Para donde is perhaps on the way up. There's been reports that Laredo's own Henry Cuellar is seeking a seat on the powerful House appropriations committee. This committee is nothing to sneeze at being that it's the one that controls all federal spending. Gary Martin of the San Antonio Express-News sees Cuellar's chances as fairly good. He cites his belonging to the fiscal conservative Blue Dog Democrats as a positive.
Nonetheless, the chances can be also seen as being somewhat slim since the Democrats did loose a lot of seats around Texas. Another factor that might work against Cuellar is his relatively low seniority ranking. Anyway, we here at laredotejas would like to wish HC good luck.
