Will Nuevo Laredo return the favor and detour Laredo-bound traffic to McAllen?

Long, long time ago.

The Emperor's New Clothes was the theme for the Chamber's/City/LCVB's latest failure. Whenever someone came up with the idea of blacking out all the "Nuevo Laredo" signs enroute to the former Gateway City, no one dared to speak out. No one was willing to say what everyone must have been thinking: this is a stupidly ridiculous idea! So, all of us got to see just how incredibly lamebrained our city leaders can be.  Not that we had any doubt.

Now, the question is: Will Nuevo Laredo payback the favor? After being treated like a leper by it's supposed sister city, will they resort to prohibiting all mention of Laredo, Texas to travelers coming up from Monterrey? Will they go one step further and actually discourage visitors from coming this way?  Who could blame them if they did?  Anyone who had anything to do with this fatheaded decision should resign.  The Gateway City to nowhere is now officially the laughing stock of the US-Mexico border.

  1. This is crazy and stupid, and will accomplish nothing except upseting the citizens in Mexico.

  2. Pendejos! Like no one owns a map, or that now drivers notice the covered up signs more than ever

  3. It's actually going to result in more people inquiring as to WHY was it necessary to cover the signs up! This move will just make people more apprehensive about visiting Laredo.

  4. Now I want to leave Laredo thanks to the Chamber of Commerce . . .

But since I don't dress up in a powdered wig, can read beyond an 8th grade level, and I believe in the Freedom of Speech and First Amendment, they'd probably say "good riddance."

  5. We can't have 9th grade and above reading levels in a Duncical Oligarchy such as ours.
