S.O.S..........S.O.S........."This is a crisis, it has to be addressed as such": Chamber President says

Miguel Conchas - President / CEO
Miguel Conchas alerts City of Laredo to ongoing crisis

In today's LMT, Laredo Chamber of Commerice President Miguel Conchas sent out an S.O.S.! Speaking in front of the Alliance of Laredo Businesses and several City of Laredo officials, Conchas proclaimed:

"This is a crisis, it has to be addressed as such". He told the approximately 20 member audience. Conchas added : " “People fear coming to Laredo because of violence. We need to challenge this erroneous image of our city.We need to expand tourism but first, define our city. And we need to focus on research before we conduct a public relations campaign,”.
Conchas continued "City Council needs to spend probably about $1 million to invest in the services of a professional public relations firm that could take a long-term approach to burnishing Laredo’s image by researching and eventually marketing the Gateway City’s strengths to potential tourists, new residents and businesspeople."
Looks like the city's been put on alert once again. A million dollars for another Public Relations firm to tell the City's public relations people how to to do their job. That's a lot of money but it still less than the 2.42 million dollars the county just forfeited.

  1. You really should read a book or two on the value of marketing strategies, public relations and their implementation. You do not seem to connect the value of public relations, you keep writing on how so much money is spend on such related items. Even abstract services have value; just think about it after doing a little research. It will make sense to you.

  2. I appreciate your input. I do think that marketing strategies have value.......if they are the right ones and if they are implemented thoroughly. I have however, not seen any successful ones in Laredo and therein lays my lack of confidence in such recommendations. I'll be more than happy to be proven wrong this time around. Even if it will cost us Money. But if we have a record of wasting money- then why would I be so thrilled about the latest campaign? Thanks for the comment.
