An Excercise in Oppulence: High Society in one of the poorest towns in USA

If you are planning to attend the SOL (Streets of Laredo ) Masquerade ball, please make sure to keep both hands on the wheel. I know that may be a hard task since you will be tempted to keep adjusting your masque from time to time.

Also, please exercise caution as you drive past the many, many pawn shops, loan companies, rent-to-own, payday loan companies and other assorted poverty-exploiting businesses throughout Laredo. Remember, more than likely, they're owned by fellow Laredoans with whom you'll be mingling at the Ball.

And, although you'll understandbly be in a hurry to get to La Posada, please drive slowly as you make your way past the countless homeless people begging throughout the streets of our fine city. Proceed with caution; the extent to which your visibility will be impeded depends on just how ornate of a mask you'll be wearing to the gala.

Enjoy!

  2. You bloggers cry about corporate welfare all the time. So this is a charity event for the only non-profit organization trying to make a difference in Downtown Laredo and you have to disrespect that as well. No corporate welfare involved and donations and participation is made by those people who are educated enough to know the difference organizations like Laredo Mainstreet are making. You all are freaking ridiculous. Why don't you cry about the Boys Club fundraisers or all the Political fundraisers going on everyday in Laredo? No one is asking you to donate or participate. Better yet, please stay in your barrio and suck on your keyboard. Losers!

  3. Laredo Mainstreet gets non profit money from me and all other taxpayers. What difference will they make with this joke of an event. How much is this event costing? Is that what they want to raise money for- simply to keep hosting events like these. Your impoverished mental acuity is far poorer than any barrio. Losers are the ones who need to masquerade as something other than what they are. What is the charity being serviced? Please let us know and we'll be glad to amend the post. It's still a joke of self agrandizement.

  6. by the way, the post includes absolutely no negativity at all. I guess it hit to close to home for someone to be so offended. Are all bloggers from the barrios?

  7. Eyes Wide Shut- I couldn't figure out how to get the piano keys playing in the background like in the movie trailer. I need more advanced technology (aka knowledge).
