LDF Director: "In Laredo, we're starting to come out of the recession"

This morning, The Laredo Morning times reported some long-awaited, good news for the Gateway City. The following excerpt encapsulizes the overall turn around in a nutshell, albeit a sorta long nutshell. In Sean Bolin's LMT article, we find that :

when comparing 2009 and 2010 statistics concerning county and city sales tax rebates, dollar amounts of construction projects represented in building permits applied for, bridge revenues, north-and south-bound rail and commercial truck traffic, and airline passengers and air cargo weight moving through the city airport, this year’s figures beat those from 2009.

It's absolutely refreshing to see all facets of our local economy moving in the right direction. Hopefully, it will continue to be the rule and not the exception. Whether the revenues keep increasing or not, we should all be wary of how our local governing bodies will deal with this uptick in dollars. Let's not let our elected (and non-elected) officials get too generous with "their" discretionary funds.
