Call it bironga, cheve, Schaeffer, or unas fri-itas, it's still beer and apparently also the main reason the Laredo Roses have fought the city so hard about having a place to play;meaning a place where they can sell beer.
It's a rich Laredo tradition which the Washington's Birthday Celebration Association has pushed increasingly hard the past few years. The WBCA has certainly discovered that selling booze brings in big bucks. JamBOOZie, Jalapeno Festival, A Taste of Los Dos Laredos, Noche De Agave and a Wine-Tasting Gala are some of the alcohol-fueled gatherings that dot the WBCA calendar each February.
Little wonder then, that the Laredo Roses want to follow in the footsteps of the Lemurs and the Rattlers as another vehicle for beer sales to Laredo's only too-willing denizens.

Mmmmm . . . beer . . . . mmmmm.
ReplyDeleteHey, I had to figure out a way to blame it on the WBCA. As long as they don't serve alcohol at the Pitchforks and Torches gathering, porque entonces si!
ReplyDeleteThere are no drunk drivers in Laredo!
